This past Saturday I got the opportunity to shoot the wedding of Joel and Lauren. Tash and I have known these two for a long time and were so excited to see them tie the knot. Tash, being 39 weeks pregnant decided not to shoot this one (I wonder why) so I brought along our good friend Rebecca Ellison. Becca shot our wedding 4.5 years ago, she was great and of course acted as my trusted back up in case I had to bolt. I always enjoy shooting with other photographers, you can learn a lot.
We started the day at a gorgeous rental house which we utilized for the getting ready and first sight. This stair case was awesome for this purpose, probably one of my favorite first sights ever.
I think they like each other. a bit. Lauren’s flowers were really beautiful. Good taste.
We hit up Mukilteo’s waterfront for the first part of Joel and Lauren’s portraits.
There was a really sweet walk way behind a hotel on the water which I found while scouting. I love this moment. I told Lauren to kick her leg back and bit and Joel did a little fun lean. Love it when the couple plays like this. Fave dress pick. This white wall was bouncing some beautiful light. Lauren was glowing.
Joel, being a photog himself, brought his polaroid with him. I want to see how these turned out later.
Living Dangerously.
Ivar’s hooked us up with free ice cream. And by us I mean them. Becca and I didn’t get any. We were jealous.
So happy we went down to this pier. I think there is some cool framing and repetition here.
Good looking group of guys.
We were so blessed to have sun all day. One of the rare April “heat waves” I have experience in Seattle. I really liked the light on this walkway.
Da girls.
Floral hall is really cool. Both classy and rustic.
Lauren and Joel’s vows were very personal, unique and meaningful.
After the ceremony Lauren, Joel, and I headed off into Nottingham forest. There was some awesome glowing light coming in. I love love love this portrait of Lauren.
I love this shot as well. These guys were naturals.
Favorite shot from the wedding.
Joel is so romantic.
Checking out the mariners getting Perfectoed! or maybe just reading toasting notes.
One of the benefits of having a second shooter is that you get to do some “unsafe” shots while your second gets the safe shots. This was shot from outside through the window. It is easily my favorite from their first dance and maybe one of my favorite dance shots ever.
Did again with the father daughter dance.
Thanks Joel and Lauren for letting Becca and I capture your day. We both had a blast. I put together a slideshow which you can also view below.
