Engagement portrait sessions are included in every wedding package at Crozier Photography. We feel very strongly that the first time you get in front of our lens should not be on your wedding day. We believe that your engagement session is much more than a simple “trial run”, and that it serves more of a purpose than simply creating beautiful images. Here are our top five reasons to not skip your engagement session.
1. You get the chance to be photographed in a different setting and in different clothes than your wedding day. This may come across as obvious, but it is nice to have both casual and formal images of you and your spouse to be. For instance, perhaps you are getting married in a Snohomish barn setting, we would advise our couples to have their engagement portraits somewhere urban to contrast their wedding photos.
2. Your photographer gets to “learn” how to photograph you and your fiancé. I gain invaluable knowledge of how to photograph a couple during their engagement portraits. I learn how to coax the emotions out of my couples, how to pose them so they are most comfortable, and how to help them interact in a way that truly shows off their personalities.
3. You and your fiancé get to gain confidence both in yourselves and in your photographer. You hired your photographer based on a portfolio that wowed you and a personality that resonated with you, but knowing that your photographer has already captured amazing images of you once before can do a lot for your confidence on your wedding day.
4. You gain access to images in which you can personalize your wedding day decor. Couples can use the their engagement portraits for a variety of items that can highly customize your wedding day. Whether it is custom save the dates or announcements, an engagement album guest book, or a large print at your gift table there is a lot of room for beautiful customization.
5. It’s fun. We keep the sessions light, easy, and fun. Consider it a sort of date with lots of kissing and cuddling included. *no one was harmed in the taking of these photographs* 🙂
So there you have it, don’t skip your engagement session.
