Every wedding day is different. But most follow a similar rhythm. Here are our favorite 10 shots we nail during every wedding. For ease these are all from Danielle and Paul’s wedding.
1. Dress, ring, flowers, and shoes. We like pretty things that glitter, what can we say.
2. Defining reception detail. We capture the mood and elements you have put so much time putting together.
3. first dances. During a wedding this is sometime the bride and grooms first chance to slow down for a while. We focus on lighting this really well to make sure we capture emotions and moments. We also try to maintain as much of the ambiance as possible.
4. Toasts. Not going to lie, I cried at no less than 3 weddings this year. It is not very often that we flat out say what we think about each other. There are so many emotions flowing during the toasts. I’m not kidding about crying either.
5. The “Impact Shot”. We strive to get an art shot from every wedding. Something that will be dramatic, romantic, and look awesome blown up to a 30×40″ canvas wrap. I am not going to lie in saying that these are my most favorite shots to create. We use our full repertoire of ideas and creativity to make some really cool moments. A key element of these shots for me is that I like to incorporate the scenery that the couple has chosen to get married in.
6. The Scene setting shots. Our couples choose their venues for a reason. We make sure to grab some shots showing where the couple got married.
7. The Basic portrait. Well lit, beautiful, in love, and looking at the camera. Everyone needs one of these, even if they don’t realize it.
8. The guys and girls. Candids, serious, what ever.
9. Dad giving her girl away. Many tears.
10. Candids. Years of experience lends itself to anticipating the perfect moments. Being in the right place at the right time is NOT an accident.
11. Something unexpected. I am an artist after all. This typically involves spontaneous inspiration or madness.
