This Sunday I got to shoot my first wedding as a dad. I had a blast shooting these two. Deshaun and Merissa had an intimate wedding with just their families at the Boehm’s high alpine chapel in Issaquah. I have never shot here before. I really liked the location. It had a ton of character and was very nicely decorated inside to replicate a chapel in Switzerland. Deshaun and Merissa just had such an obvious love for each other. The flowers were really nice. They were done by a friend who is retired or else I’d tell you his name.
Bling
Merissa posing in front of the chapel doors. I loved the texture of this place. I thought it was cool that the brother performed the ceremony. It was his first time. Apparently there is a free site that you can become ordained through which then allows you to perform weddings. Cool. He did a good job too. They rung the church bell after saying their vows and paused for a brief kiss. I loved the light. A junky brick wall can look cool with a hot couple and the right light.
Random tropical door in down town Issaquah. Always wanted to shoot a steamy laundry mat scene. It was literally steamy in here though so we stayed all of 30 seconds.
The reception was in the Jannsen’s basement. It was easy to forget that we were in a basement though. It very nicely decorated and was the perfect size for this intimate affair. Dad giving his toast. After everyone else had toasted Deshaun read a promise/poem (don’t know exactly what to call it) that he had prepared. Some wet eyes ensued. Moments before the smash. Dad gave Merissa a framed photo of their actual first dance. First dance. Ironically happened after father daughter dance. But who’s keeping track of these things anyway.
above mentioned frame. So cool.
Thanks Deshaun, Merissa and families for letting me share and capture this day for you guys. I had a great time.
Here is their slideshow.
